Code Your Future

The reason we are advocating for coding, is because it can shape futures. Taking up coding as a passion can hugely benefit you in future jobs. We are in the 21st century and many job positions require technical expertise, as well as this, most things that we now use involve so much coding. For example, any smart gadget such as phones,iPads, laptops etc include thousands of codes behind the screen. In the time we are living, most of the jobs involve most activities digitally on computers, this also means that you have to have knowledge in the technical field. Another reason I am interested in this topic is because there is so much to learn, when you start, you can’t stop.

At the top, when you read a piece of code, it looks like a normal writing piece. When you go deeper into the code, you can see how it makes things work. These days, everything involves coding, and to be honest, if they didn’t it would be chaos. For example, the speed cameras and red light cameras involve an unimaginable amount of coding, cars going at high speeds are caught, the speed at which the code runs, and is successful is ultrasonic. Another big example is public transport, behind all the screens and monitors, huge amounts of JAVA scripts and backup scripts run, they need this as they have about 25 – 50 people they have to take care of while driving, if anything goes wrong, many people could die or get severely injured. This is why coding is extremely important and I am pushing for it to be involved in not only the education system but everywhere.

Types of Code

Common types of coding are imperative, functional, logical, and object-oriented languages. These may sound very challenging and confusing, but trust me, they are not. Once you start you can’t stop. From my personal experience I can assure you that the first may be slightly hard but the next is a breeze.

If you’re new to this topic, you may have heard that coding is used in very technological fields and powers our daily lives, that is true, but it also powers many other small things. For example, you have a stuffed toy, but it speaks, it contains a small chip with a code of what to say and when to say it.

Learn to code and enhance your future

A code or script always has a trigger, it can either be activated when the user does a certain thing such as click a button or move it in a certain way. Take for example a video game, if you click a button to go forward, the trigger would be for the user to click that certain button, this is the first step. The next step is actually building the part of the code that shows what happens when you click that, if there were no code, it wouldn’t do anything, in this case, you wouldn’t move forward. To do this, you can add words such as ‘move forward’ or ‘step forward’, some types of code involve drag and drop, this is when you select a block and drag it to the code section, this is the most important step as it is the base for your code. Step 3 is to add something to tell it when to stop, sticking to the same example, the forward button wouldn’t know when to stop, this would lead to either it not working or for it to keep going. You can add an end code by writing ‘stop’ or ‘end’, in the drag and drop case, you could drag a button, normally red. These steps are mandatory as they are the start of every code, no matter how hard they look, this will always be included.
